Abstract:
This study presents the implementation of Scratch for improving the second graders’ division skills in primary school mathematics classes. The animated module of the game "Divide equally" is based on the second-grade mathematics textbook with authors Prof. Vladimira Angelova, PhD and Stella Doichinova, published by Prosveta Plus Publishing House, Sofia, 2017.

After presenting and teaching the concept of the action division an animated module was developed in order to achieve the planned effect of the use of the application Scratch. Practical problems are offered in which a given number of objects is divided into groups with equal number of elements. This operation illustrates the action division. It helps students understand how to determine the number of elements in each of the groups as well as the number of the groups with equal number of elements. They are all supported by illustrations in the textbook that help students to understand the importance of the action division. The game "Divide equally" which is programmed with a fun and entertaining interface provides a logical ending to the topic of division as well as an opportunity to apply the accumulated knowledge, to develop it interactivity and to have fun. A total of ten credit points is planned for all the correct answers in all the four scenes of the whole game.
