Abstract:
The arrival of the last two years of Secondary School to a depopulated rural area of the mountains of Valencia during the 2016-17 course has meant a change of life for a handful of families of four villages.
The existence of the center implies that the students of the new course at this remote rural town can go back every afternoon home, reducing the stays away from home, which meant moving to study in other places 100 km away.
This relocation of their teenage lives, closer to their families, contains a series of changes that can be important in the perceptions of life in the rural environment, their immediate projects or in the medium to long term. Also, of course, in family negotiations.
In this sense, the role of the educational center can be fundamental. Right now, its pilot program, being the only IES shared between autonomous communities, so is a challenge for the entire educational community involved. The uniqueness of experience raises, in fact, many questions from any educational, researcher who is minimally interested in the territory, in the rural school, in the development and sustainability of rural areas, in the future of young people ...
The youngsters and young people who make up the students group of this educational center will open a new scenario of training and vital projections that will affect their relationship with the language they use and with the other language they come into contact with in a nonexistent way previously. Consequently, it can not be a thrilling phenomenon to observe and with which to understand a series of situations, speeches, ideologies, attitudes, construction of identities ... incardinated at a significant time (adolescence), in a critical demographic environment (rural mountain) and with horizons of the future little hopeful (precariousness).
The research we propose is qualitative. The exploration of the discourses about language, education or identity demands a design that allows to capture the changes in the perceptions, appraisals and actions of the students that have begun the Baccalaureate in this institute in the last courses.
The general objective of the research is to analyze the role of the center and the new contact of teenagers as a possible vector of discursive change in a rural and border environment.
The specific objectives would be:
- Analyze the evolution of the perspectives, motivations, opinions and perceptions of the students of the center
- Identify the differences that students perceive in their conceptions about identity, education ... and in relation to those of reference people (family and friends). Or, in other words, to understand how to refract the speeches of the environment in the young people and the young students of the IES.
- Analyze how this new inter-regional mobility affects the perception of students about rurality, linguistic borders, family negotiations, etc. At a time of self-assertion of personality and growing circulation in the territory. Keywords:
