Abstract:
Obesity is regarded by the World Health Organization as a 21th century epidemic. It is a serious health-threatening risk which can significantly impact the quality of an individual’s life. Nowadays, obesity is unequivocally regarded as a metabolic disease belonging among the world’s most frequent so-called civilization diseases. The almost explosive increase in the occurrence of obesity in the world’s population is more than alarming. The increased morbidity with serious complications, the socio-economic aspects, the reduced quality of life and, last but not least, the increased mortality rate of the obese population places this condition among serious global health issues of the world’s civilized population. The Czech Republic is the fourth most obese country in Europe, with 5–10 % of children suffering from obesity.

In addition to the characteristics of the basic features of obesity, the article primarily deals with the construction and indication of kinetic activity, which is frequently neglected in the prevention of obesity. Many studies clearly point out that without kinetic activity, a long-term effect on weight loss cannot be achieved. For the successful effect of kinetic activity, it is necessary to obtain suitable specific recommendations for the building of kinetic regimes. A necessary part of the education of future teachers at pedagogical faculties in the Czech Republic involves not only the knowledge of this civilization disease but also the benefits of suitable kinetic activities and specific recommendations for the building of kinetic regimes transferred into the practical sphere.
