Abstract:
Social relations are one of the key factors of a friendly atmosphere in the workplace, for building a community of teachers. Those are social relations which determine the effectiveness of teachers' work with the student, because the well-being in the workplace motivates teachers for activity and self-development, increases teachers' involvement, and thus decides about better students’ achievements (motivation to learn, engagement). The article focuses primarily on social relations that prevail among teachers working in schools of various types and levels. On the basis of the analysis of 96 teachers’ diaries sent to the competition announced by Joanna M. Łukasik, called “One Month in the Life of the Teacher", an attempt was made to answer the research question: What are the social relations between teachers in the workplace? As a result of the analysis of the diaries' content, different types and categories of relations between teachers were selected. Those categories and types were based on: the period of teachers’ development (the stage of life), the length of teachers’ work, the type of school and its location (village, small city, big city). The types of relationships selected were referred to the teachers' involvement in work and the sense of their success, which basis are students' educational achievements. Keywords:
