Abstract:
Teachers in the Czech Republic are prepared for their profession in various fields. It is a question whether Czech universities training future teachers react on the increased manifestations of social pathologies at school and also in the life of whole Czech society. The author of this paper tries to answer briefly the question: “How are the universities training future teachers prepared for this social demand in the field of social pathologies?” The paper is also asking a question what the Czech Ministry of Education understands under the notion of pathological phenomena at the primary school. Hereafter, the paper also presents the investigation describing the situation at schools training future teachers with respect to social pathologies. Here, the paper will make you acquainted with the research concerning this topic at Czech universities together with the recommendations and conclusions resulting from this research.
The text of the paper presents the above problems of social deviations at Czech universities training future teachers and which has brought to the education practice the following conclusions:
• From the answers by the representatives of pedagogical faculties follows that they formally emphasize the problems of the work with socially pathological phenomena.
• None of the investigated faculties has in its internal regulations a document which would specify the problems of social deviations in the pre-graduate training of future teachers.
• The problems of social deviations is taught above all in departments of pedagogy and psychology, partially in departments of social pedagogy, University of Hradec Králové and Palacký University in Olomouc together with the Department of social pathology and sociology at the Centre of Healthy Life Style.
• There is not a separate establishment focused on the problems of social deviations which would pay particular attention to the school milieu at any of the investigated faculties.
• It is surprising that the representatives of pedagogical faculties often confuse concepts of social pathology with pathological psychology, and also often see the focal point in fields which are expressly pedagogical.
• It is gratifying that at least one grant or project dealing with the problems of influencing the healthy life style, values etc. is being solved at all investigated faculties.
• All investigated universities collaborate with other institutions having the links with the prevention of social deviations.
