Abstract:
The paper deals with the issue of discipline in relation to formative part of teachers´ educational efforts. It presents partial results of two GAJU (South Bohemia University Grant Agency) projects, Readiness of students and novice teachers, graduates from the Faculty of Education of South Bohemia University in Ceske Budejovice, to solve upbringing issues of pupils, and School – a threat or a chance for vulnerable individuals? Both the above mentioned projects provide a survey carried out among the Faculty of Education students and their view on experiencing upbringing and discipline issues in school. Research is based on the analysis of 210 reflections processed by first and final year university students who study teacher training programs at Masters´ level of studies. The obtained results show the kind of discipline issues students view as significant, and teacher´s personality features or problem solving strategies students consider to be crucial for handling the issues. In this respect, the research results provide negative outcome in terms of the assumption of the ability of school to ensure its upbringing role only by the quality of didactic work.
