Abstract:
The research results confirm the importance and benefits of Augmented Reality (AR) technology implementation in the education process, at different levels of education and in various subjects. AR technology represents an educational tool that can be used in teaching mathematics from the primary level of education. AR provides possibilities for creating mathematical concepts´ models at different levels of abstraction. It can be considered a tool for the creation of different representation modes of elementary mathematical concepts - from enactive, through iconic to symbolic (in the context of Bruner's theory). Models in different modes of representation can be further worked with, manipulated, and flexibly adapted to the students' abilities. The other advantage of AR technology application is the possibility to present math concepts´ models in a static form, as well as the possibility of manipulating them in the sense of a dynamic object. It can be changed or modified based on various indicators and properties of the object. When solving tasks, a strong point of AR is the opportunity for modelling and presenting the solution process, not just the result.

At the Faculty of Education (University of Presov, Slovakia), within the project (KEGA 036PU-4/2021), mobile applications and applets (GeoGebra) are being created for use in mathematics education at the primary level of education. These are created for different content areas of mathematics. Demonstrations of the use and application of particular applets with the support of AR technology will be presented, oriented towards mathematical content
(1) geometry - symmetry, axial symmetry and
(2) arithmetic, numbers - standard and expanded forms of natural numbers in the decadic number system. They are the product of the project teamwork and are based on
(1) the results of the content analysis of curriculum documents for mathematical primary education and
(2) work with information from the point of view of the possible incorporation of AR (in the Slovak context). The starting point for creating models in different representation modes is the results of the content and cognitive analysis of mathematical tasks. Project outputs in the form of proposals for the use of AR technology in educational practice are included in selected undergraduate mathematics training courses for future elementary school teachers.
