Abstract:
During pandemic, all schools and universities were “forced’ to adapt to the new realities of “online education” and to find ways to carry on with the activities. Rural areas had more problems due to the lack of technology, internet connections, digital knowledge, etc. In the climate full of uncertainty of 2020, the professors and parents had to face these new realities together in order to find proper solutions with the resources at hand. So, in this paper we aimed to evaluate the impact of COVID restriction measures on the quality of education process in rural areas from the perspective of both teachers and parents. The research was carried out in 2020 though questionnaire-based surveys and our database comprised 107 teachers and 123 parents from rural middle schools. This approach permitted us to identify: the effects felt by teachers (psychological, financial), the effect of pandemic on educations system, measures needed from teachers point of view, the effects felt by children, the financial impact on family, the assessment of education process and the measures needed from parents point of view, etc. The results indicate from both perspectives the failure of online education system and especially the gaps which the remedial programs or the future investments from 2021 will not probably be able to reduce.
