Abstract:
Personalised learning in higher education is achieved through the individuality of the students. Researchers state that each individual has different learning styles and abilities, motivation, and engagement in learning, which is often directly related to their personal needs and interests. Personalised learning, as a system of processes and methods enhances and deepens individuals' learning by personalising learning according to each individual's needs, skills, and interests, and by providing support and encouragement, and is therefore likely to contribute to a high quality and effective learning process in higher education. Research shows that personalised learning is a validated approach to ensure students' success in their career path, but quality implementation and adequate support for students is essential to harnessing the concept. Therefore, the high quality and effective implementation of personalised learning can be achieved by effective functioning of the entire system and the involvement of the participants in the learning process.
This report examines the topic of personalised learning with a focus on higher education. Drawing on theoretical and practical research and case studies, it emphasizes the advantages and disadvantages of personalised learning and identifies possible strategies and solutions that can contribute to the effective implementation of this concept in higher education. The study is based on the results of a research carried out at the General Jonas Žemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy. The study used a methodological approach of action research, which introduced the concept of personalised learning into the teaching of the Management module. The results of the study were collected using qualitative research methods, i.e. observation and interviews. The study findings revealed that personalised learning is a powerful motivational tool for learners, enabling them to actively engage and manage the learning process autonomously. It was observed that the biggest challenges were related to the identification of the students' learning style, time management, and maintaining motivation, while technological and learning environment factors posed relatively minimal obstacles. The results of the study confirmed the importance of personalized learning as a way of making education a more attractive and effective process and allowed to identify challenges and solutions for the successful implementation of this concept in higher education institutions. Keywords:
