Abstract:
TEC de Monterrey, as part of its educational innovation, has ventured over the past few years into the subject of distance education under the concept of telepresence technology. In this one it is combined audio, video and the three-dimensional simulation of an instructor through an AVATAR whose primary purpose is to improve body language with the participants. In this way, it seeks to promote a virtual experience that is as attached to the reality of an in-person instructor. This system allows an instructor and their participants to interact synchronously, even though they are in different geographic locations. An educational innovation experience is presented in this work, using a telepresence technology focused on the area of mathematics. The basic aspects, the description of innovation and the general guidelines for implementation are discussed and it closes with a set of conclusions that will allow us to assess the potential application of this tool in favor of distance education. Among these conclusions, perhaps, the most significant one is the one that marks the possibility of bringing education to the most remote communities under the philosophy of optimizing financial, human, and infrastructure resources.
