Abstract:
The article examines a modern literary text and its role in speech skills mastering among international students studying the Russian language at level C1-C2.
The author supports the plausibility of the fact that work with the modern postmodern texts in multilingual audiences can lead to a better understanding of the Russian language at the advanced level. The high linguistic and methodical potential of postmodern texts is due to the fundamental principle of the modern methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language, namely, the principle of co-studying the language and culture of the corresponding national-linguistic community. Meanwhile, the texts of modern authors reflect all active language processes both at the level of linguistic properties and at the level of conventional and semantic qualities.

The necessity of introducing modern literary texts in the curriculum is explained by the fact that they are considered a source of cultural information, a sample of a certain type of message, a material for training and an object of observation of actual linguistic facts. The texts of Russian postmodernists clearly demonstrate the shifts in language norms, which makes it possible not to learn the language at the native speaker level.

The present paper offers a description of work with this type of texts in an international audience and analysis of students’ performance.
