Abstract:
The widening of eLearning didactic methods like online courses and different forms of the internet based learning cooperation represents a particular challenge for traditional present sitting form of education. The creating of new manner of the learning environment gets key relevance for future of learning in general.
In presented paper I report about one concrete online group work, which is ended by final present forum in dark hall. The blending of both form of learning, traditional frontal lesson and modern decentralized eLearning, demonstrates the deficiencies and the advantages of both of them. The discussed group consists of students (about 35 participants) of the 6th session of different courses of the empirical linguistics of Frankfurt University. The used eLearning platform was BSCW (Basic Support for Cooperative Works/open source). The object of the group work in the course of “pragmatic linguistics” was online discussion about follow topic: “From the orality to the literacy in the human communication”.
The group congregated in the dark saloon of museum of the dialog in Frankfurt to sum up of the online phases of the group work. Thereby assists the blind employees of the museum. The reason of the hosting of the final sitting in Dark Museum was the didactic consideration of emotionalizing of rational perceptions. The present conference in the dark hall has some characteristics of online work: The interaction between participants was limited by auditory perception; the overlapping of contributions was minimized and equated to interaction on eLearning-platform. The major difference is the lack of aspect of emotion in the eLearning and being of that in mentioned present conference in spite of the darkness.
The absence of the option to see the dialog partner creates the special emotional learning situation, which is different by contrast with communication on online platform. The meeting in the dark saloon differs from the meeting in auditorium. The traditional visible distribution of place in two parts, one for lector and other, in front of them, for students, is dissolved in the dark saloon. The absence of the usual hierarchy of the lesson is first emotional experience of participants. Similar effect during online interaction despite of same structure stays missed. This is a favorable initial point for mediation of different themes. For dialog in darkness I used special kind of assumed names for participants: seven terms of music notes (so called Solmisation) accorded to actually names of participants in three groups. Every single term symbolized seven different subthemes, which was to debate. I evoked the music notes in the darkness and generated the debate. The discussion proceed emotional and intently. The students viewed the conclusions of online phase of the group work in new context and experienced the core statement of major theme once again. Therewith the aim of the final quasi present sitting of the online group work was complied. The presented report contains a shot record of the forum in darkness and some feedback mails from students.
To presented paper are attached the photos of final meeting in the dialog museum. On the one of them is nothing to see: it was made in dark hall.
