Abstract:
In recent decades, the use of technology has caused transformations in the teaching-learning process, enabling the fulfillment of teaching functions and the spaces dynamization for collaboration and knowledge creation in all study modalities. Even though the importance of the teacher in the learning environments creation, the use of technology is shortcomings limit the teaching role in the virtual modality. The current paper presents the results of explanatory research, with a mixed approach, at the Technical University of Machala, intending to develop a system of actions, based on the functions of the 21st-century teacher, for the generation of learning environments in virtual mode. The use of theoretical and empirical methods allowed the construction of the theoretical framework, the diagnosis of the situation, and the design of actions in the Pedagogy of Experimental Sciences career. The theoretical corroboration of the proposal, through expert criteria, evidenced its validity and enabled the development of the improvement plan for its application.Keywords:
