Abstract:
The present paper describes the results of the educational project on quantifying reliability in the railway transportation service. Our educational project addresses, by bringing together expertise from various disciplines, some of the key challenges and opportunities faced by modern railway systems worldwide. The main objective is the improvement of reliability, which can be attained through the implementation of modern diagnosis solutions, the scheduling of the maintenance of various railway subsystems and the replacement of components nearing the end of their projected lifespan. The project is concerned with the measurement and management of reliability, modeled on data measured on the Brașov-Predeal railway, as well as the procedure used to design a SCADA-type automated control system, in order to centralize the control of all equipment. Having previously recorded data and given the failure anticipation capability of the designed system, pre- and post-implementation reliability can be compared. Keywords:
