Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to discover the main changes generated by replacing the classic teaching system with an online one in the perspective of engineering students regarding their professional life. Therefore, after switching to the online teaching system (due to the onset of the COVID-19 crisis), we have compared the results of a research carried out in 2018 with the results of a research developed in 2020. The population analyzed consists of students from the Faculty of Engineering of the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu. Both researches primarily looked at the influence of several factors on students’ stress. The most important factors were: the volume of information required for studying and the quantity of homework, the exigencies of the teachers during the evaluation processes, and the fact that some students work in companies. Between the most important results of our comparative study we mention that respondents generally stated that the workload they provide for teaching activities is higher in the online environment than in the classic one, a factor that clearly has a strong influence on increasing their stress levels. However, students' opinions are more varied when it comes to teachers' requirements and exigencies. Another finding of our comparative study was the fact that engineering students employed in companies feel the requirements of the academic educational process as an additional demand, more amplified than it really is.
