Abstract:
Industrial development is a continuous process of searching for new solutions that meet the current challenges of the modern world. It's about developing new rules, guidelines or recommendations that lead to new products or new technologies.

The emergence of new technological ideas must be put in close connection with the qualified human resources who can meet the requirements of operation. This means that educational institutions, training centers, doctoral schools must adapt their programs to the industrial requirements.

There are many reasons to improve of needs of existing techniques and technologies. One of those is addressed in the paper and refers to a sensitive subject for the modern world: prevent on environmental pollution.

The problem is approached from the viewpoint of protecting the marine environment. The ships generally, but maritime transport vessels especially have undergone an extensive refurbishment process to decrease the adverse effects on the marine environment.

All shown above are points of interest to academia to adapt current their programs in accordance with the new requirements. Each new schedule, updated accordingly will be carefully placed under a validation process for the industrial needs.

The paper offers extensive discussion on the need of adjustment of the university curriculum especially to the new requirements of shipping.
