Abstract:
Lately, the field of education has undergone continuous changes due to the existence of a large diversiy of teaching methodologies many of which so far have prooved inefficient and brought about criticism. In our oppinion, one of the prerequisites in education would be to assure the equilibrium between informative and formative knowledge. Nowadays, quality informative and formative education have become more and more complex, therefore requiring more financial support from the communities involved.
To our understanding, a possible solution to this lack of balance would be introducing problem-solving tasks in the framework of an enterprising education system and by means of the e-learning.
This presentation aims at providing a bird’s eye view of the concept of problem-solving tasks, enterprising education as well as e-learning at the same time showing how these concepts could relate to one another in such as way as to reach a balance between formative and informative knowledge.
Problem-solving is an intellectual activity that models and controls more complex processes from the human brain. Researchers consider that problem-solving activity means: motivation, attitude, emotional and affective control, creative abilities, as well as enterprising spirit. Solving the problems day by day successfully is benefic for individuals’ intellectual development and creativity. It also contributes to preserve the chemical equilibrium of the human brain, assuring the control of emotional and affective feelings.
Introducing problem-solving tasks in education is said to have a long-term impact on the economic growth. Typical problem solving activities refer to writing abstracts, making generalizations and analogies, participating in brainstorming activities, using strategies such as divide and conquer, continuous testing, creative thinking, surprising proposals, absurd reductions, identifying the major cause, the trial by errors.
Using the problem solving tasks in the curriculum together with adequate subjects means enterprising education which also has a crucial importance for student’s social development, and should be introduced in the early stages of education. Thus, the entrepreneurial spirit could be better supported, promoted, stimulated and educated. The interaction between the enterprising education and the labour market is said to produce a positive impact on the economic growth. The success of this methodology is strongly influenced by the knowledge pyramid.
The access to the worldwide digital equipment will develop the e-Learning education which might also become an alternative to the traditional education system and also be an efficient alternative for corporate people. E-learning includes traditional and modern methods and techniques for conveying and managing the knowledge by WEB, IT&C and applying the asynchronous and/or synchronous communication assuring the students acquire knowledge, values which help them form aptitudes for further education.
Integrating in the curricula the problem solving, enterprising-education and e- learning is a challenge as to our knowledge more practical research is needed in the field. However, we believe that this combination could provide a balance between formative and informative knowledge.
