Abstract:

After two years of remote work, the return to face-to-face activities with the loosening of access restrictions and the end of the pandemic period brought great challenges to teaching institutions in general. In this context, the On-Site Training Programs had to readjust their activities for On-Site Education.

This Experience Report evaluates the impact of returning to face-to-face activities after 2 years of remote activities in a technological training project in the state of Amazonas. The project in question is the result of the Research and Development program of the State of Amazonas. One of the central objectives of the initiative is personal qualification to develop and improve skills in the areas of entrepreneurship and technology, through training actions in specific areas and topics, stimulating the formation of new talent and the technological development of the state. To this end, the project's actions develop technical training and events; encouraging a more participatory teaching model with hands-on learning.

The study compares data from the project in Manaus and with its peers in the state of São Paulo (capital and Campinas) presenting numbers referring to student retention, number of enrollments and effective students. We also analyzed the course evaluation questionnaires to identify factors that justify the return of students to face-to-face classes.

The results show that the results of returning to face-to-face activities are different between the regions studied. Differences are around the number of enrollments between online and face-to-face courses and the number of retained and dropped out students.
