Abstract:
The paper deals with education and psychological preparation for the profession of professional firefighter. Given the psychological demands of the firefighter, it is necessary to actively pursue this area. Every day, a firefighter enters into stressful situations, puts on his own life and, on the contrary, bears responsibility for many lives. They works in difficult conditions, solving difficult and unpredictable situations. For this reason, the article also describes the basic requirements from the psychological point of view of the personality of a firefighter for recruitment. Here are the basic requirements for the professional competence of the firefighter, taking into account the activities carried out during the profession by firefighters. It specifies basic compulsory preparation after recruitment and its content orientation. It also deals with the main stressors in the performance of the profession of firefighter and their possible reactions in stressful situations. It suggests possible ways of managing and preventing stressful situations. Based on a survey among firefighters suggests areas and methods suitable for training and enhancing the mental capability of a firefighter.
