Abstract:
The article is devoted to peculiarities of psychological and language training of young scientists, who took part in ICYS - 2010.
To go abroad and to defend an invention is a very stressful condition for young ICYS participants. It is so even if only to take into consideration the language barrier. Not all Ukrainian children begin to study English from the childhood, some of them do it at fifth form or even further. Another problem is a cultural shock and cultural differences. Some of young scientists have never been abroad that’s why they need to be informed of cultural peculiarities and life in foreign countries. One more important thing is that they have to be ready to defend their works, to make a presentation, answer the questions etc. For the purpose of making this useful information more constructive and to facilitate language and cultural barriers we worked out the psychological and language training for young scientists taking part in ICYS.
This training was developed for practical research purposes. The main purpose – to assess the initial level of ICYS participants’ readiness to take part in such activity (to defend their inventions) and to ease this procedure. Training helped us to assign factors that influence the successfulness of invention defense in English. We also worked out special guidelines for young scientists taking part in ICYS.
