Abstract:
The paper presents results of the research carried out among both Czech and Slovak pre-primary and primary teachers of English as a foreign language. The research, conducted via qualitative surveys, mapped both their opinions on and attitudes towards the using e-literature in their ELT classes. The results showed that respondents in general welcomed the number and scale of free-access digital literary texts suitable for their classrooms. Moreover, they appreciated the opportunities to engage children´s curiosity and interactivity which made lessons more attractive and effective. Simultaneously, both the Czech and Slovak teachers were concerned with the questionable quality of some e-literature texts published online. They pointed out to the lack of the authority (editors) responsible for the language quality of literary texts in a digital space. Therefore, they assessed using e-literature in their classrooms as risky and more demanding since the existing situation intensifies their responsibilities considering the accuracy of a language input provided to their learners.
