Abstract:
Among innovative teaching strategies that enhance students´ motivation and improve their learning outcomes, peer assessment has an outstanding position. Simply said, peer assessment is a process in which students provide feedback to other students. By giving feedback to their peers, students need to reflect on their knowledge and understanding, as well as manifest their social and communication skills. Peer assessment requires a classroom culture characterized by supportive, collaborative relationships where students understand that they share responsibility for their own and their peers’ learning. The paper publishes the results of research conducted in the academic year 2022/23. The research aimed to test innovative approaches to assessing students´ outcomes within Anglophone literature courses at a selected Slovak university. The study publishes the content analysis results of data collected from 122 online peer-assessment forms (students evaluated each other via a peer-assessment grid in Google Forms). The results confirmed the credibility of peer assessment as an effective tool in the assessment process within Anglophone literature courses. In addition, the findings confirmed a statistically significant relationship between peer assessment and teacher assessment scores (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.743).Keywords:
