Abstract:
We challenge dramatic changes in our lives in 21st century. Everything goes digital, social, and mobile today. New request from economics and labor market represent the needs of changing education. It requires schools and universities to remove the walls, and teachers to change it role. Technology-enhanced, mediated by social non-formal learning environments became a strong part of our reality and appears to be also a challenge for today and tomorrow teachers.

Strong “mediating” competencies for teachers are expected in creating of new education reality. Besides these new basic competencies teachers sometimes appear as key educational “engineers” and create new or update educational programs to meet both this day learning needs and new learning environment.

So can the teachers update their roles, and become more than just specific discipline knowledge «transmitters», but as more complex skilled Instructional Designers?

The description of the case and preliminary results of the teacher training project carried out in Higher School of Economics (Russia) in 2013 aimed to provide teachers’ acquisition of basic instructional design competencies will be presented.
