Abstract:
The main objective of this paper is to present a description of stress and support areas in parents of children with intellectual disability in a deeper degree. The first part shows a description of the specificity of families bringing up children with deeper intellectual disability. The author mentioned difficulties and problems occurring in those families, then he discussed the presence of stress in human life and the state of parental stress, which parents of children with deeper intellectual disability struggle with. The recapitulation of this part was a description of the issue of social support of parents of children with deeper intellectual disability. The second part of the paper includes a presentation of the methodology of the author's own research in which he presented research questions, methods and tools which were used in gathering data. The final part involves a description of the obtained results and their interpretation. The application objective of the author's own research was to design an outline of a programme of psychopedagogic aid as a response to problems revealed among the families under research. One of the most special conclusion is the fact that on the basis of the research findings (mothers, fathers), the stress level does not differ significantly statistically in PSI subscales, except the stress level connected with the attachment and adaptive abilities of a child with deeper intellectual disability, where fathers obtain higher results. Fathers give higher rates to the support obtained from their spouses. Not infrequently, it is necessary to obtain assistance in exact recognition and definition of parents' needs and feelings. The initiated support situation is a good test of skill of cooperation with specialists and sharing one's experience. Keywords:
