Abstract:
The object of the research presented in this paper was to determine the scope of perception of the family by disabled individuals against protest behaviour as an expression of their need to recognize their independence on a daily basis. The main aim of the research was to obtain information whether and to which extent children in their families reveal protest attitudes in situations of protest as an expression of independence, regarding both employed individuals and unemployed individuals who are seeking employment. In order to achieve a high level of the efficiency of indications for the concept of the strategy of influences, it was essential to determine what kinds of protest are revealed by individuals in their families and what makes them protest. The research problems concerned: the occurrence of conflicts in the family, the degree of appearance of aggressive types of behaviour, difficulties connected with expressing emotions, the occurrence of violence towards one's parents. These were regarded as the basis for an optimum support for the strategy of pedagogic and therapeutic conduct, and also improvement of the strategy of building conditions beneficial for avoiding the effects of disadvantageous influence of the family as regards limiting freedom and independence of a child on an everyday basis. At the same time, it was accepted that protest is an important factor in development of an individual if it can form independence in the climate of acceptance and confidence. A person can become independent when he or she feels surrounded with love, when he or she is provided with a possibility to satisfy his or her basic needs, and any restrictions are understandable for him or her. The frequency of using protest can rise dramatically in the atmosphere of excessive severity, leniency or inconsequence. In such conditions protest may even take the form of aggression. The respondents of the study were participants of artistic activities, organized at the Foundation for Propagation of Artistic Culture of the Disabled in Warsaw. The expected results of the research aimed to facilitate verification of the degree of parents' understanding of the essence of the protest of their disabled children, both employed and those seeking employment, as an important element of maintaining freedom and independence. In the research the author used the method of diagnostic survey and the obtained results as regards perception of the family by disabled individuals were primarily intended to provide indications for designing effective forms of support in the pedagogic and therapeutic conduct, and consequently, relief of tensions and possible extreme threats regarding unwanted protest and resistance behaviour. Keywords:
