Abstract:
The debate between print and e-books is a continuous one. Many people believed that they would eventually completely replace printed books. As well as the question of whether artificial intelligence will replace the human mind in many fields.
There are several reasons why readers would choose print books over electronic ones. While some people might value the comfort of being able to highlight or take notes in a physical book, others might value the feel and smell of a genuine book. Some people could also be worried about eBooks' long-term availability and preservation.
Our decision to conduct a survey was prompted by the strong interest and multiple opinion. What mindsets and views do the students have? Is there a difference in choice between medical students and students from other programs?
The study comprised 330 participants, including students from 7 Georgian University (Among them 3 public, 4 private) 40% of them were non-medical students.
Out of those who responded, 46% stated they spent less than an hour reading printed books, 60% indicated they spent more than three hours using the e-books.
However, In response to the query: Which would you pick if you had to choose between an e-book and a print textbook with comparable content and value, the majority of 67% express their preference for the printed edition.
When it comes to subject distinction, opinions diverge. While 70% of students prefer printed books for fundamental courses, they prefer e-books for clinical subjects.
Based on the questionnaire, the following conclusions were drawn: The main conditions for choosing e-books are portability, comfortable carrying and low price. However, to save health and electricity, many students prefer the printed version. It should be noted that more medical students choose e-books than students of other programs. Keywords:
