Abstract:

The aim of the foregoing article is to show more than a dozen years of experience in the field of implementing various forms of problem-based learning as an important tool supporting the effective internationalization of Higher Education.

The subject of the analysis will be the International Faculty of Engineering at the Lodz University of Technology with approximately 1,200 students acquiring their education under one of the 10 programmes in English available. 25% of the students are always foreign students, which results in each group having at least 2-3 students from abroad.

The article shall present three types of flagship projects which have been carried out for many years at the IFE. The analysis carried out shows how significant problem projects are in supporting the development of key competences, such as creative thinking, reflective learning, adaptability, lifelong learning skills, effective work in groups, all of which are of vital importance these days.
The article shall highlight in particular the international dimension of the projects carried out.
