Abstract:
Since the 70s of the twentieth century we have witnessed a concern for coexistence in the school that has given rise to numerous plans and projects to address them. The proposals of UNESCO Education for Peace, the Delors Report, Manifesto 2000 report and the statement of the UN International Year for the Culture of Peace are part of this endeavor.

The concern and interest in the subject appeared in Spain during the 90s, and the authorities with educational responsibility developed legislative measures to address it. There was also an outburst of studies and reports to diagnose the problem, like the reports of the Ombudsman from 1999 to 2006 on "School Violence: The Bullying in Secondary Education", the Cisneros Report on School Bullying and Violence in Spain, 2005, or the numerous reports of the autonomous communities.

In this paper we review severals plans and projects and the various legislative measures that have been taken over the recent decades on this issue, as well as various educational projects in formal, informal and non-formal teaching that have been proposed. Finally, the role of Citizenship Education and the promotion of social and civic competence as a way to improve relationships in school is discussed here.
