Abstract:
The current era is characterized by rapidly changing conditions in all areas of our lives, including the personal. This poses significant goals and challenges for the correct setting of education at all levels. New forms, methods and content are sought in the preparation of students so that school graduates are as well prepared as possible for the changing world.
In recent years, we have also addressed issues of the quality and attractiveness of education at our Catholic University in Slovakia within the framework of a scientific project CEGA (Cultural and Educational Grant Agency) with name “Comprehensive Innovation and Educational Support of Study Program "Teaching Informatics" with the Internet of Things”. An essential part of the implemented curriculum innovations is also the inclusion of exclusively practically focused teaching subjects or workshops, which, using the means and possibilities of the Internet of Things, improve the preparedness of our graduates for life to a significantly higher level.
The article deals with a detailed description of a sample practical job, or a workshop with students, where its participants practically design, program and make a clock and a weather station with an air monitor, including a 3D box. As part of the completed scientific project, several such, and similar instructions for practical work with students were created, including complete written preparations freely available for teachers, which are easily replicable and usable in all types of schools. At the same time, some other results of the project and experiences that were gained during the first verification of the updated curriculum are presented in the article. Keywords:
