Abstract:
As educational settings increasingly explore innovative technologies, blockchain technology emerges as a promising tool for managing digital identities and credentials. This paper examines blockchain technology in the context of educational gaming, based on interviews with 20 students from a game studies and media education class at the University for Continuing Education, Krems. The study assesses how blockchain transactions impact security, privacy, and ownership of educational data, with a focus on both traditional and game-based learning environments. Insights reveal student perceptions of blockchain's challenges and opportunities, emphasizing their understanding and acceptance of its potential applications in education. The research contributes to discussions on blockchain's integration, highlighting the need for careful consideration of technical and ethical considerations, and discussing privacy concerns to ensure its beneficial adoption in educational frameworks.
