Abstract:
The article deals with the structure of popular science text and its principal constituents within the framework of the integral approach. The implementation of global macrostructure model in Russian and English popular science texts on alternative energy sources is studied and compared to macrostructure model of the scientific text with respect to their universal and specific features. The study focuses on the realization of task – solution macrostructure in both English and Russian popular science discourse. The author provides a thorough description of popular science text macrostructure model at all its stages. The study results in arranging the macrostructures of analyzed scientific text and popular science text in systematized models with special reference to their social and culture specific features. By comparative analysis the author reveals the differences between the compiled models and explains them with reference to the data from cognitive, social and cultural discourse sectors.
