Abstract:
Building with and on non-formal education is a contemporary practice, characteristic for the Romanian education system, by means of which specific actions and influences of formal and non-formal education are valorized. There are numerous examples of good practice which are sustainable and transferable. Their analysis, from the point of view of their contribution to the building of civil society, is the main objective of the research undertaken. Actually, the characteristics of the non-formal activities which enhance the development of children and youngster’s capabilities that will enrich the moral profile of the citizen capable of being active in the contemporary society, are identified through the research conducted. Another objective of the research is to outline the features of non-formal education, which, in the context of a formative programme applied within the Romanian education system, is carried out systematically, is scientific and adapted to the children’s education needs. With reference to the criterion mentioned above, specific activities are explained, which contribute significantly to the formation and development of learners’ consciousness regarding their identity, to the development of their self-esteem, to the formation and development of networking and interpersonal communication abilities. The methods used for this research are: qualitative analysis, survey and questionnaire. The conclusions we derive reveal the great importance - within the creation and development of this approach - of focusing on learners’ real needs, as well as on their correlation with the desirable profile of the contemporary citizen. Amplifying the integration of non-formal education procedures in the formal education system determines the formation and development of personality traits and skills that are relevant to the moral and civic profile of the future adult.
