Abstract:
The contribution of the work was a guide to improve the monitoring and evaluation of the subject “Prácticum” (IA37 – Fifth course of the Undergraduated Studies on Chemistry). This subject consists on an internship in a host institution, a laboratory out of the university (private company or state institution). The student is in situ supervised by a responsible from the host institution (supervisor). The university teacher (university tutor) gives to the student the initial indications, monitors the development of the internship (by phone or e-mail communication with student and supervisor) and helps the student to elaborate the report and prepare the oral presentation about the performed tasks during the internship. The final qualification reached by the student depends on the report of the company supervisor, the report of the university tutor and an oral presentation about his work exposed to a jury composed by the university tutor and two other professors. However, the fact that the internship is performed far from the university makes difficult to evaluate the work performed by the student. Then university tutors need a useful tool to correctly follow the tasks performed by the student. The proposed guide was made of a quiz about the main points of the internship, as the relationship between Practicum tasks and university studies, the work conditions, the developed project, personal relationship, the possibility of future work in the company and a personal appreciation. The quiz should be filled by the student at the end of the internship. The proposed questioner complements the present one and provides to the university tutor a new tool to assess the development of the internship. Results may be used to evaluate the student, detect possible problems between the student and laboratory staff and even to consider the suitability of the company for future Practicum students.
