Abstract:
In Spain, the international crisis has had a particular impact on the construction sector and has caused a very significant effect of job destruction on it. This situation implies the necessity of a new approach in the application of teaching methodologies, in order to allow the students of the Degree in Building Engineering to acquire further skills to face those new conditions in the sector. So, this work seeks several objectives; in the first place, innovation and new solutions are encouraged between students by the correct resolution of exercises with low constructive definition, forcing them to make decisions and to evaluate their own proposals. Secondly, students have to make public presentations of the constructive solutions designed and to defend the criticism of their colleagues and teachers. This activity is scheduled for a semester and includes the realization of three constructive details in two and three dimensions, in groups of two students.
The works finally carried out are displayed as posters in the exhibition boards of the Polytechnic School in the University of Alicante and assessed through a survey conducted in the classroom. At the end of the semester, the group of students who get the higher rating will obtain one more point in the final scores of the subject.
