Abstract:
The implantation and development of the computer science networks have created a new communicative system and new technologies of the information and communication (TIC) that have influenced changing the process of formation of the student. Education through the network is fitted perfectly within the new proposals of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) in which the student has an active paper in the learning process, since all the tools of communication of Internet (forums, chats, blogs and other resources) give to him the possibility to interacting with the professor, with other students and the own information system [1].

The main goal of this work is the development of generic and specific competences in Chemical Engineer students of the Rey Juan Carlos University in the “Instrumental Analysis” subject using the online campus. Different activities of flexible learning (outside the classroom) that include formative evaluation questionnaires, and continuous evaluation by means of the platform of the Virtual Campus with the use of computer science tools like the program Hot PotatoesTM have been designed. With these activities a higher quality in the teaching-learning process are expected, with a higher student implication and higher interaction between students and with the teacher, using the new information and communication technologies

On the other hand, these activities improve in the student the access to the TIC, the development of generic competences, such as the capacity of analysis and the critical reasoning and the development of certain specific competences related with the subject. Also these new methodologies are been able to increase the interaction of the students with the subject, which results in a greater implication of the student in its own process of learning, avoiding the abandonment of the subject and consequence academic failure.
