Abstract:

The ability to understand, in a critical and informed way, as well as to express oneself and share audiovisual messages, is directly related to media literacy and the ability to actively participate in the digital world. Com ON project is a strategic partnership on adult education, focused on developing an innovative training programme in the field of (audio)visual narrative and communication. The project seeks to create an online programme that, supported by open educational resources and an androgogy-based and peer-learning approach, will offer European adults the opportunity to improve their competences to understand, create and share (audio)visual messages and stories. The main goal of this project is to work on the specific competences of audiovisual communication and creation of particular interactive products through the creation of digital narratives, and at the same time working on transversal key competences such as emotional, technological and social abilities.

This paper presents the first results of the research project titled “Com ON – Unleash your potential for (audio)visual COMmunication”. Using interviews from five experts in this field, we performed the first stage of the research in order to develop a Training Programme that covers the theoretical elements of (audio)visual language and communication. After the interviews, we analyzed and discussed the results achieved which constituted a base of work that permitted to trace a training path and the de-sign of contents. As a conclusion, we created training programme on (audio)visual narrative and communication, that will count on a set of modules/sections, including:
a. Digital narrative: (audio)visual language elements; storytelling beyond words; (audio)visual storytelling: online and offline experiences;
b. Video creation: basis of video creation; the story and the message; tools for creating and re-creating videos; sharing your ideas online;
c. Image creation: basics of image creation; when pictures tell a story; images formats and uses (picture, gifs, memes…); tools for creating and editing images; sharing your ideas online and
d. Illustrations: drawing your stories; storyline for your comic design; tools for creating illustrations (infographics...) or comics; sharing your ideas online.
