Abstract:
The research process Sekaran (2000) comprises a set of steps: definition of the research problem, objective of the research work and formulation of hypotheses or research questions; implementation of literature review in the context of an analysis model; construction of an analysis model; choice of research methodology; selection of data collection techniques; data analysis; conclusions.

The working hypotheses are a previous answer to the proposed problem and are usually developed based on previous studies according to the chosen theme. These are admissible assumptions that try to solve the question of departure and help to understand the theme. These are not necessarily true, because they are formulated so that at the end of the investigation they are considered true or false.

The eight commandments to succeed in researching a thesis (Neves et al 2015)
1) The thesis should focus on a topic of interest;
2) The selected theme must be related to reality;
3) The theme should not be selected because it seems complicated, but rather because it allows learning and increasing knowledge about the subject;
4) Dimension is not important, what really matters is quality;
5) The thesis should include a chapter reviewing the literature on the selected topic;
6) Any text that is not original must be presented as a quotation and include the reference to the author
7) In the text of the thesis it should be clear what is the value added by the author and what is the contribution;
8) The work should be carried out regularly.

The authors of Caderno Estudos II consider two perspectives, A and Z. Perspective “A”, closely related to the objectivism, is based on the idea of a concrete reality. On the other, perspective “Z”, intimately connected with subjectivism, is based on the idea that reality is socially constructed. These two extreme perspectives try to capture the radical different ontological assumptions about the philosophical debate around objectivism/subjectivism and realism/relativism.
The main goal of this paper is:
- Does the students of the Master degree in ISCAP P Porto in Accounting and Finance, follow a define and clear method on research on Finance?
- If yes, does the Methodology classes presentations are efficient?

The Master of Accounting and Finance is dedicated to the development of technical skills and scientific qualifications in the fields of accounting and corporate finance.

The practice of this study will be through a direct questionnaire to ISCAP-P Porto students who have done dissertation in the area of finance in order to ascertain their motivations, methodology and final results.
