Abstract:
Today (including triple helix actors) have to be able to innovate in order to survive, this , innovation must be implemented not only in organizations that manufacture products or offer services but even within the organization to allow solutions from simple to complex but not to increase the complexity in organizations but to reduce the complexity of them, day to day; however, there is no guide that tells us what is the best way to do it.
Technological innovation requires specific strategies that permit to create new products or improve existing ones. What strategies are needed to achieve a good innovation? One of the key strategies of innovation is knowledge, everything that books and manuals can teach us to develop us in a satisfactorily way an activity, even the tacit knowledge, that is acquired in daily activities, is fundamental to innovation, it helps to increase our knowledge base allowing create thematic relations which benefit greatly the innovation process.
The ubiquity of the organization plays a significant role, it is important to find or create spaces where the organizational structure and operating systems of the organization are not an obstacle or a barrier to innovation processes and allow that innovative changes can be developed with agility. This creates simplicity and allows that members are focus on their activities. Does the organization have the necessary tools to develop innovative ideas? Is there an innovative culture? Does the organizational environment encourage the innovation? This last question let us see that the motivation is another key strategy, also it is an essential and important factor for success. Motivation influences the performance of people to achieve goals or objectives, that is why it is needed always to have a reason or purpose for which innovate, besides having to take over leadership of innovation without losing the initial approach; an optimistic attitude should be present in the motivation of the actors involved in innovation; however, the main strategy of innovation is that people can perform them in their areas of greater capacity, known as core capability, the activity that the organization acquires or develops through its members. These core capabilities generate competitive advantages to the organization, which are tools that enable innovation within it, allowing differentiating themselves from others, managing innovations properly.
A good innovation requires these four strategies coincide at a specific point, in this documents, these strategies are taken into a three-dimensional cube that allow us to rotate the view according to how the characteristics of the organization are related to strategies, in order to identify in what position we are and what we have to do to achieve a successful innovation, understanding that even an innovation with ‘i’ lowercase can be a good starting point to reach a INNOVATION with ‘I’ uppercase. These strategies and their perspectives will be implemented in the Laboratory of Technology Management and Innovation and private sector together, to develop projects with high impact on society.
