Abstract:
The website Learn2MOOC https://learn2mooc.com/en/ was created by me to exchange professional experiences about online-learning and to measure digital competences of university educators worldwide. The following competencies were studied: 1) digital content creation; 2) communication and cooperation; 3) digital literacy. To achieve these goals (professional communication and digital competences estimation) the International Research Conference on Education and Online-Learning was held on Learn2MOOC website on December 22-23, 2020. Lectures from UK, France, Italy, South Africa, Philippines, Croatia, Lithuania and Georgia took part in the event.
The results showed that 109 educators from different countries registered on the website https://learn2mooc.com/en/. It should be emphasized that the majority of educators were from Europe and from: Asia, Africa, USA, UK and Russia. The half of university educators worldwide (49,5%) have academic degree «Doctors of Philosophy» (N=109). Also, university educators have relevant work experience more than 25 years – 15,6%, 21-25 years – 23,9%, 16-20 years – 9,2%, 11-15 years – 12,8%, 6-10 years – 9,2%. Mostly educators (36%) teach humanities such as: Education, Online Learning, Foreign Language Teaching, Psychology and Linguistics. Other educators specialise in IT, Maths, Medicine, Marketing & Media and Business & Management. Most users (55%) used PC to register on the website and to take part in the survey (N=109).
It should be concluded that digital and pedagogical competences of university educators worldwide are at the intermediate level. University professors showed the real interest in sharing ideas on online learning and actively participated in the mentioned International Online-Conference. Moreover, educators commented that they appreciated the collaboration, and also shared the educational ideas and acquired new information at the International Research Conference on Education and Online-Learning on the website Lear2MOOC https://learn2mooc.com/en/.
