Abstract:

As a research and extension tool of the Andalusian government, The Instituto de Investigación y Formación Agraria y Pesquera (IFAPA) is developing a range of research, technology transfer and training activities to promote the modernization of the Andalusian Agriculture, Fisheries and Food sector, and to guarantee the correct implementation of Common Agricultural Policy directives.

Knowledge transfer at IFAPA takes place using a range of tools. In this work we focus on the newly developed on-line Agriculture and Fisheries Knowledge Transfer and Consulting Platform (SERVIFAPA) which is implemented for three years and now is undergoing a dynamic process of development aimed at improving the quality of public, free and universal service offered. The SERVIFAPA platform is designed to showcase and manage technological advances and knowledge generated by IFAPA, and make them available to society.

An analysis is made of the different factors that contribute to the public use of SERVIFAPA and its overall success, with special emphasis on the different components of the platform. The nature of the analyzed parameters ranges from those related with the active and motivated participation of the implicated agents to those associated with technological aspects such as search engine optimization, digital content management or quality standards for evaluating the analysis and continuous progress of service. Suggestions and recommendations are formulated in order to improve the performance of the different indicators of the system and facilitate the achievement of the targeted institutional objectives.
