Abstract:

YouProduce! is an internet based educational platform where learners can produce their own films. The platform was developed over the last two years and is worldwide unique.

The platform is very simple to use. With the help of YouProduce! educators have the possibility to create virtual classrooms and give topics and tasks to learners. The learners work on these tasks in a three stage process: first-researching a given topic, second-preparing film scripts and third-producing films on-line.

In support of these activities YouProduce! provides a library containing information on various topics and a database with a large number of searchable film clips. It is thus not necessary for learners to upload their own films. The film editing software allows voiceover and music to be incorporated into the films as well as writing subtitles in different languages.

Significant advantage of the educational platform is that it is a closed, password protected system, administered by the educator. The educator can follow and evaluate the progress of individual learners. The platform has the flexibility to network and incorporate thousands of schools or individual teachers from different regions into the system. In this respect, it will be possible to encourage exchanges of know-how between educators and learners as well as organize periodic competitions for the best films produced by learners.
