Abstract:
The paper represents research results focusing on topic of professional self-efficacy of student teachers in their first year of studies in relation to cooperation with parents of their pupils. The research took place at Faculty of Education of University of Hradec Králové (Czech Republic) and its goal was to provide, with the use of mixed design, a deeper insight into perceived professional self-efficacy of beginning students of teaching fields (in particular fields of Primary and 1st grade of Primary school). In the first stage of the implementation of the research we have used a questionnaire entitled: “Self-efficacy of teachers to work with parents“ by authors Majerčíková, J. and Gavora, P. and in the second stage have been used semi-structured interviews by students. The paper does not represent real abilities of students but only their subjective concept in these five specific areas: ability to inform of a child´s well-being, explain the functioning of a school as an organisation, advise parents in education, be transparent to parents and to convince parents to support the school. There were no significant differences found between these two groups of students (study field of Primary and Primary education of 1st grade) and we can state that, researched students rather trust their abilities to cooperate with parents.

Obtained results have provided the basis for further longitudinal research survey, which aim will be to monitor developments (e.g. stagnation or gradation) pf perceived professional self-efficacy of our female and male students to cooperate with parents according to preparation for teaching profession.
