Abstract:
Personal, social and cultural challenges and opportunities that unequivocally arise from living in a digital world are currently expected to be formally addressed through Educational systems. Nevertheless, the topic of integrating these challenges in learning environments through digital means is a complex and multidimensional one. Education policies and reforms, envisioning innovation while reducing the digital divide, have now the challenge of placing pedagogy at its center, in order to accurately target different layers of the educational community. In fact, accomplishing the so-desired empowerment of learners and educators requires a focus on holistic models that meaningfully connect them with learning and living opportunities and broader future perspectives. The ik.model will be presented as a framework that is playing that meaningful role in different challenging Educational projects worldwide and some real case scenarios from several geographies will be shared, overviewing a specific goal: to broaden future time perspective in a lifelong learning continuum. This perspective will be analysed through students’ experiences of making academic choices throughout their formal school life and also through the lens of teachers (as learners) in their self-guided process of professional development.
