Abstract:

HPC (High Performance Computing) is the ability to perform complex calculations at speeds higher than that of a single computer. Application of HPC technology has grown exponentially in the last two decades. Research and development in science and engineering are increasingly reliant on the HPC. It has become imperative for a nation to have more HPC skilled manpower to keep up with desired progress in science and engineering.

In this paper we have discussed our ways to proliferate HPC skills and usage across the computing community. Broadly, our ways include designing and conducting short term to long term courses in HPC, delivering workshops, hackathons, technical hand holding, providing HPC as a platform etc. Also, we have discussed our efforts to develop cost effective solutions to make HPC more widely available. Through this paper we have brought out our experiences and challenges in executing different strategies for proliferation of education in HPC, including the challenges faced during the COVID pandemic.
