Abstract:

It describes the reasons, objectives and characteristics of an empowerment program of research activity, designed and launched by Scientometrics Unit General Services Research Support (SGIker), University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU).

In order to intensify research conducted by teachers and young graduates in areas with lower centers and research tradition or less visibility in international impact publications, since 2009 Unit SGIker Scientometrics is working intensively training and guidance on concepts, processes, practices, sources of information and research world basic methodologies applicable to the various scientific and technical fields.

After detecting a significant educational gap between graduate students in general and among teachers in those schools with lower academic research tradition as College Schools of Economics, Business, Social Work, or Nautical more skills oriented to professional carrier,from Scientometrics Unit raised the need to offer a line of formative longline action consistent with this new situation.

Through a comprehensive program of meetings, workshops, conferences and service of custom queries, we try to answer all those questions about the research, which is formulated any member of the university community.

The indicators of these four years of experience in the implementation of this program, such as the number of training and facilities involved, and typology assistant and work area, the number of hours, the degree of student satisfaction, questions, comments and suggestions, guarantee the success of this initiative and encouraged to keep developing new training initiatives and guiding the research world to help raise the research profile of the UPV / EHU and, ultimately, the entire society it serves.
