Abstract:
Social educators need an important ethic background for the development of their profession. With the general objective of analyzing the presence of the ethic issues in the university degrees of Social Education, the specific objective of the current proposal is to critically comment the state of the art of the debate about ethics in this field. With this aim, a systematic bibliographic review is undertaken. Main aspects highlighted in the academic literature underpin that ethics are essential in the approach of the social educator to the people she or he is going to work with. In this sense, the educational role of this professional is to promote the autonomy of the individuals and this implies an important moral dimension. Also, on a general level, the education in values such as respect, justice, solidarity or responsibility are a basic component of the training of these professionals. The reflections obtained out of this review will be useful for determining which improvements need the higher education studies of Social Education in terms of competences and contens, and which methodologies are better.
