Abstract:
The main goal of the article is to identify and describe the barriers to the application of mobile technologies in the context of their importance for individual users. The article is based on the author’s own research conducted among students of the University of Warsaw. To introduce the subject-matter discussed in this study, the author has indicated brief characteristics of the mobile technology market, both in the context of its local and global dimension. The main part of the article contains the detailed presentation of the importance of all identified barriers associated with the application of mobile technologies. These barriers are divided into five groups which are connected with: the functioning of the telecommunications infrastructure, technical aspects of the running of mobile devices, security and privacy issues, costs which are related to both the purchase of a device and subsequent use of the services as well as the software installed on the devices and websites accessed via these tools. The importance of the barriers which appear in each of the abovementioned groups are presented in tables and illustrated on the graphs as well as synthetic discussed. The considerations presented in the article are later recapitalised, and the author formulates conclusions resulting from the present study into the barriers and the marketKeywords:
