Abstract:
A preliminary investigation showed that managerial capabilities impact on the internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises, more than other factors which are decisive to protect them from global competition. The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development suggest three strategies to reverse the lag in internationalization, two of which consist of greater access to information and communication technologies, as well as develop skills and human capital. In many countries such as Mexico, managerial capabilities are limited by the shortage of specialized vocational training programs and by the low level of update of the processes of teaching and learning supported by technologies based on e-learning. The objective of this study was to determine, from an analytical perspective, the importance that has for universities the offer of courses online, taking advantage of the technologies available, in order to facilitate the transmission of knowledge to managerial staff who do not have time to attend courses in classrooms. In this regard, was found little interest in the universities, while some enterprises, especially larger, have been working in the design of their own educational platforms since they have recognized the need to have teams with strong educational foundations, not only by a matter of competitiveness and integrity, but to develop new capabilities on their workers, although not the case in small and medium-sized enterprises that lack the resources to improve their managerial capabilities. It can be considered that this is a situation that represents an area of opportunity for universities. Keywords:
