Abstract:

Nowadays data is generated faster, has greater coverage and scope, and includes new types of observations and measurements that have previously not been available. Big data contains data which is in the size of terabytes and petabytes and is so large and complicated that it becomes very difficult to process and analyze. This paper conducts a survey on recent research work that has been done on big data. We focus on main big data research areas, such as social networking with big data, data mining with big data, and cloud computing with big data, and also emerging areas. For every area of big data, we have discussed problem summary, solutions and related experiments based on solutions. Characteristics of big data, technologies of big data processing and analysis, and significant results from previous studies are presented. Emerging technologies for big data and future challenges are also discussed.
