Abstract:
The degree of dentistry bases its teaching on theoretical and practical knowledge acquired throughout the Degree. Three-dimensional animations provide an alternative in the teaching-learning process and increase student motivation. The University of Valencia offers all the teachers the opportunity to participate in Teaching Innovation Projects aimed to improve the teaching process. Objectives: Firstly, to record with the help of the technicians of the teaching innovation service, and as part of a Teaching Innovation Project, some three-dimensional animations on real patients and then project them to the students. Secondly, to evaluate students’ opinion about these three-dimensional animations on the teaching-learning process. Material and methods: After recording the videos, they were visualized by the students in the classroom with the teacher. Afterwards, an anonymous survey was passed through the students to answer a series of questions as well as give suggestions or comments about the three-dimensional animations. Results: Recording three-dimensional animations as part a as an Innovation Project was a good experience for the teacher and for the students. Conclusions: Three-dimensional animations make teaching and learning easier for our students. Students and teachers assessed the new teaching tools positively.
